Saratoga Hot Pad - Free Hot Pad Crochet Pattern

Hello my crafty friend! I hope you are having a wonderful day and are excited about today's new pattern. I don't know about you, but I always struggle with finding something that will protect either my kitchen table or counter top. Instead of frantically looking for something, I wanted to create a pattern that will save our counter tops from hot pans of trays. Today I want to share with the the Saratoga Hot Pad which not only protects my countertops from my brownie tray but also blends in nicely with my farmhouse decor. This pattern is a quick one (takes less than 2 hours to complete), it provides a lot of fun texture, and you get to play around with color choices (I went with two and loved it).

Notes:

  1. For this pattern, the specific yarns used were Red Heart Super Save Yarn in Buff and Aran
  2. For the wooden bead and ring, I used the Assorted Macrame kit
  3. This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not sell this pattern as your own. Please feel free to sell the finished item and do give credit to Fresh Cut Yarn.
  4. If you will be selling these online, please do provide a link to my shop, thank you!

London Court Cowl - Free Cowl Crochet Pattern

Hello my crafty friend! As I write this blog post, we are currently in the middle of winter and Boston just experienced a powerful winter storm, meaning all I want to create are warm wearing crochet items that will bring us warmth during these next cold months.

Today I would like to introducing you to the London Court Cowl which has a lot of beautiful detail while keeping your nice and toasty. Fun fact, the name was inspired by a photo my husband took while we were in London. In that photo it was a dreary summer day, we found ourselves in front of beautiful architecture and decided to capture the moment with a picture. Now you must be thinking, how does that photo tie together with this cowl? Honestly, it has to do with the feeling of that picture. While the day was dreary due to the rain, we were filled with so much warmth and happiness which symbolizes the London Court Cowl. If you live in the northeast region of the U.S. like me, you know winter months can be tough, but when you are wearing the London Court Cowl, know that you will definitely stay warm while being super happy you created it. Alright lets get started with the beautiful cowl!

Wattle Stitch Washcloth - Free Washcloth Crochet Pattern

Hello my amazing crafty friend, I hope you are having both a wonderful day and week! Cannot believe we are quickly approaching the fall season already. Have I tried my first pumpkin spice latte and hot apple cider of the season.... oh you know it! How about you? Are you more of a pumpkin spice latte or apple cider drinker?

As I was sipping on that first delightful apple cider this past week, I started thinking of what pattern to share with you this week. The pattern need to be either something that can be used during a specific holiday season (I am looking at you Halloween) or can be used all year long. That is when the idea of a washcloth came to mind. I have been wanting to make washcloths for a very long time but just did not have the time to, until today!

Today we will be tackling the Wattle Stitch Washcloth, and as stated in the pattern, we will be using the wattle stitch. The great thing about this stitch is once you go past row two, you will be repeating the pattern until the desired length and it brings a lot of beautiful texture to the washcloth. With Halloween in the brain, I used the candy corn colors to create this washcloth. The great thing about all of my designs are that you are the creator and you get to decide what colors to use. Definitely make sure to tag me on instagram, love seeing all of the beautiful yarn colors! Alright, lets get into this washcloth design!

 Notes:

  1. Important note, when creating either this or any other washcloth pattern, I highly recommend using cotton yarn. That way the shape and structure of the design will remain in tack.

Chic Pom-Pom Coaster - Free Coaster Crochet Pattern

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you are having a wonderful day and are excited for today's free crochet pattern! As some of you may know, I recently created a Fairly Country Table Runner pattern that has super cute pom-poms hanging at the edge of the table runner. I honestly had such an amazing time creating those pom-poms that I wanted to incorporate them into my next pattern.

So, I ran to my yarn closet, looked to see what caught my attention, and a vibrantly blue cotton yarn was calling my name. As I sat down in my office chair, I realized that the cup I was drinking from was leaving a water mark on my desk, that is when the idea of a coaster came to mind.

The Chic Pom-Pom coaster starts off as a continuous circle, then the edge is created with a blend of slip stitches and the pom-pom to give it a beautiful detailed look. This coaster is perfect for both cold and piping hot beverages. I love these coasters so much that I will be creating them in groups of four for my upcoming crafts fairs.

Now lets get into this fun pattern and cannot wait to see how yours turn out too!

Notes:

  1. For this pattern, make sure to work in continuous rounds which will result in no visible seams. Do not slip stitch after each round.
  2. The specific yarn used for this Chic Pom-Pom Coaster was the Premier Just Cotton Yarn
  3. The tags are from IChestnut Faux Leather Tag .85" x 2.75"
  4. This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not sell this pattern as your own. Please feel free to sell the finished item and do give credit to Fresh Cut Yarn.
  5. If you would like to be featured on my instagram stories, please make sure to tag me @freshcutyarn
  6. If you will be selling these online, please do provide a link to my shop, thank you!

Materials:
Yarn Weight: 4-medium cotton yarn
Crochet hook 3.75mm
Tapestry needle
Faux Leather Tags

Abbreviations:

R= round

Ch= chain

Sc= single crochet

St = stitch

Sl st= slip stitch

Dc= double crochet

Tog= together

Chic Pompom Coaster

Here we are beginning from the center of the coaster

R1) Work 6sc into a magic circle [6]

In R2-R8 you will be working on increases

R2) 2sc in each st, *6 [12]

R3) 1sc then 2sc in next st, *6 [18]

R4) 1sc in next 2st then 2sc in next st, *6 [24]

R5) 1sc in next 3st then 2sc in next st, *6 [30]

R6) 1sc in next 4st then 2sc in next st, *6 [36]

R7) 1sc in next 5st then 2sc in next st, *6 [42]

R8) 1sc in next 6st then 2sc in next st, *6 [48]

Next you will be working on the pom-pom row, which will involve using a sl st into each st except where there was an increase in the prior row. When you reach the increase, in between that increase is where you will insert the pom-pom.

R9) You are going to sl st into each st until you reach an increase. In between the increase you will * sl st, ch4, dc5tog in the 3rd chain from the hook, ch3, dc5tog in the 3rd chain from the hook, then you are going to fold it in half which will create the pom pom, slip stitch the togs together. Next you are going to sl in the same st where you began the pom-pom which will close your pom-pom*, then you are going to continue your sl st along the row until you reach the next increase and you will create another pom-pom in that space. You will be doing this along the entire row. Once you are done, you should have a total of 6 pompoms

Now you are going to f/o, leaving an approximate 2 inch tail which you will knot off and hide the tail inside the coaster. While you work on this pattern and questions pop, I recommend either 1) adding your comment below, 2) email me at freshcutyarn@gmail.com, or 3) send me a direct message on instagram.
