Saratoga Hot Pad - Free Hot Pad Crochet Pattern

Hello my crafty friend! I hope you are having a wonderful day and are excited about today's new pattern. I don't know about you, but I always struggle with finding something that will protect either my kitchen table or counter top. Instead of frantically looking for something, I wanted to create a pattern that will save our counter tops from hot pans of trays. Today I want to share with the the Saratoga Hot Pad which not only protects my countertops from my brownie tray but also blends in nicely with my farmhouse decor. This pattern is a quick one (takes less than 2 hours to complete), it provides a lot of fun texture, and you get to play around with color choices (I went with two and loved it).

Notes:

  1. For this pattern, the specific yarns used were Red Heart Super Save Yarn in Buff and Aran
  2. For the wooden bead and ring, I used the Assorted Macrame kit
  3. This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not sell this pattern as your own. Please feel free to sell the finished item and do give credit to Fresh Cut Yarn.
  4. If you will be selling these online, please do provide a link to my shop, thank you!

R2) Ch 2, turn your work, * 1 sc in the next 2 its, then crochet a 5 dc tog cluster in the next st* you will repeat this 7 more times. Note: when ending this row, you will end with the final 5 dc tog cluster [24]

R3) Sc into the second ch from the hook, sc in the next 23 ch [24]

At this point of the pattern you will be repeating R1-R3 until you have ended R21

The next step is to create a border around your hot pad by sc around the entire border. Once you have reached the final corner of your work, you have two options:

  • You can add the wooden bead and ring or
  • you can chain 15 and have that be the loop of your hot pad
